Finally!!

Good news! I FINALLY got a JOB!!!!! WooHoo!!!

Last week I had a job interview with a senior living center and I thought it went well, but the next day I immediately got a reply saying I didn't get the job. I was really mad at the world by that point. It felt so hopeless. I didn't know what to do except plug away. A friend had suggested a job coach so I got her information and made the appointment on Monday and the appointment was on Wednesday. I felt a little more encouraged that she would have some ideas at least and get me started on something.

Tuesday, around 11:30, I get a call from Top Temporary with an job opportunity and I let it go to voicemail for a while since I was about to have lunch. I called them back and listened to the pitch. Its for a collision auto company with reception duties with it being temp to hire and they are willing to train. I needed to think about it for a while. I kept getting this voice in my head saying that I should take it. Mom had come home for lunch and I was able to bounce ideas off of her and we decided to go for it. It's money in the bank and a way to get back up in the cities.

I called the temp agency and accepted the offer. I asked if I needed to do an interview and they said that one wasn't necessary and the guys were just trusting the company that they would find the right fit! Pay started off a little low, but I was able to get a couple of dollars above the starting price by the end of the day! Already a pay raise before I even started. :) I start Monday next week!

Next priority was to get a room situation for a couple of months. I knew a couple from salsa class had rooms for rent at one point. They have a Christian background and even are related to a couple from Bethel Church. I contacted Sarah and they still had a room available. All of this in one day!

Wednesday, today, I still went up to the job coach. She has a strong faith background and has a different perspective on selling yourself. She immediately got that I cared too much and thought that maybe a customer service job would be better for me because I see the big picture and have a hard time with details. So maybe this job will be the right fit for me. She said to say that "I have a gift of service and I want to help you in the best possible way that I can" to help set the stage for Monday. It's going to be so nice to have advice from a coach and help me perform better.

I'm finally going to have my apartment stuff taking care of tomorrow and not deal with it anymore. I'm so tired of that hanging over my head. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders.

I just feel bad that I have to leave Henry for a couple of months, but I probably will be back down every weekend to get out of the house until I have my own space.  A lot of movement this week. By 8:30, I'm beat, but it's an awesome feeling.

  1. Looking forward to your future post about your new job. Still praying for things to go well, and also praying for the weeks to go fast so you can see your Henry on the weekends. Fur babies are the best, and so tough to be away from them!!!
